Marc Valenzuela currently serves as an Economic Development Project Manager with the City of Mesa’s Office of Economic Development. In this capacity Marc leads business expansion and retention efforts, the Business Export Assistance Program, and site location projects. He joined the office in June 2017 as an Economic Development Specialist.
Prior to his work with Mesa, Marc worked for Arizona State University serving as the Economic Development Project Manager. In this role, he worked to engage and partner with local and statewide organizations to build the state’s economy, managed the ASU SkySong Accelerator Program, and helped lead the University’s corporate engagements efforts. He also managed special projects across the university including ASU’s successful efforts to become an Innovation and Economic Prosperity Designated University by the Association for Public and Land-Grant Universities. Before moving to Arizona, Marc held several positions in economic development and government relations in San Diego, California.
Marc is a graduate of Arizona State University with a master’s degree in Public Administration and bachelor’s degree in Public Service and Public Policy. He is an active member of the Arizona Association of Economic Development and has received his Arizona Economic Development Professional certification. Marc is also working toward earning his Certified Economic Developer credential through the International Economic Development Council.
