Nic Zito joined the City of Mesa Economic Development team in June 2019 as a Project Manager. In this position, his responsibilities include expanding entrepreneurial programming, managing LaunchPoint, Mesa’s Technology Accelerator, and helping companies locate and expand in Mesa.
Prior to joining Mesa, he worked at Choose DuPage, a countywide, public-private economic development partnership in Illinois. During his five years there, he started and managed a business incubator and coworking space for technology, IT, and SaaS startups. He was honored with an Entrepreneurial Excellence Award for serving more than 100 startup companies, including the production of 350 business networking events. Other professional experience included interning in the U.S. Senate, officing in Washington DC, and serving as an elected Trustee representing Wayne Township, Illinois.
Nic is originally from the Chicago suburbs and graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign with a B.S. in Agricultural and Consumer Economics specialized in Public Policy and Law. A recipient of “Top 20 Under 40 Young Business Professionals” award, he serves as a board member for the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) and has spoken at national conferences on entrepreneurship and marketing strategies for small business growth.
