Chapter 1 – First Points of Contact
City of Mesa Office of Economic Development – Determining where to start is not always easy. If you are not sure who to contact or what steps to take, Mesa’s Office of Economic Development (OED) is a great place to begin. Mesa’s OED actively promotes and preserves the economic strength of the city to ensure that Mesa is the preferred location for new, existing, and expanding organizations.
Our staff can assist you* to start or expand your business, or to find a new location. The OED offers guidance with the City’s development process and helps you to understand regulations and assess your needs. Services include confidential consultations, assistance with site selection, introduction to private and public sector development and real estate representatives, and vital demographic information to assist potential new businesses with location and expansion decisions.

Mesa Chamber of Commerce – The Mesa Chamber of Commerce is a leading advocate for local businesses and acts as an expert in resolution of public policy issues affecting the business community at a local, county, or state level.

City of Mesa Library – The City of Mesa Public Library has three branches, Main, Red Mountain, and Dobson. Each is a great business resource featuring various business materials, government, and legal documents, and “how to” publications on such topics as starting a business, obtaining financing, and writing a business plan. The library has an abundance of resources for conducting market research and feasibility studies, including online databases users may access from the library, home, or office.

Downtown Mesa Association – The Downtown Mesa Association is a nonprofit organization that promotes, markets, and manages Mesa’s original downtown one square mile – from Mesa Drive to County Club (E-W) and University to Broadway (N-S).

THINKspot – All three branches of the Mesa Public Library offer THINKspot, a makerspace to collaborate, innovate, explore, and learn with access to and training on high-tech equipment, classes and programs. Equipment varies by location. For more information visit the THINKspot website.
